The Norwegian national treasures Gåte will visit Pumpehuset on 10 November
With its ground-breaking mix of traditional folk music and modern rock, combined with captivating concerts, Gåte has established itself as a national treasure in Norwegian music life, and for the first time in four years they are visiting Pumpehuset for an unparalleled evening.
In the meeting between progressive rock and traditional Norwegian folk music, Gåte has carved a niche for itself. That niche has proven to speak to a great many people. They were formed in 1999 by the sibling couple Sveinung and Gunnhild Sundli. In the following years, they achieved, among other things, winning a Norwegian Grammy for best rock name in 2002, playing numerous successful tours and selling approx. 100,000 plates above.
It is through an enormous respect for folk music and a unique talent that Gåte manages to interpret and convey traditional folk songs in a way that makes them accessible and relevant to a new generation of listeners. Gåte is an institution on the Norwegian music scene, and in 2017 they finally returned after a 12-year hiatus with a new EP and two new members.
This autumn they will go on a large-scale tour with their biggest production ever. It will be a magnificent show, where they will also perform new material from their upcoming release, and where the album "Nord" from 2021 can of course also be experienced live. A record that GAFFA called "magical and down-to-earth".
