Pumpehuset and DTD Concerts presents
Saint Levant

Saint Levant brings R&B and hip-hop chills to November

He is of Palestinian, French, Algerian and Serbian background, was born in Jerusalem and grew up in Gaza before fleeing to Jordan in 2007 and now resides in Los Angeles. Marwan Abdelhamid aka Saint Levant draws on many cultural traditions and personal narratives when he mixes English, French and Arabic in his unique modern pop universe. Last year, the music media NME named him one of the most influential new names in today's pop landscape and not least as a forerunner of a new movement within Arab music.

Inspired by historical Arab thinkers and contemporary artists, Saint Levant cultivates a nostalgia that takes the mind back to the R&B and hip-hop era of the 00s, while his lyrics about, among other things, vulnerability among Arab men and sex pull us into the future. Saint Levant grew up with both piano and saxophone and artists such as Lenny Kravitz, Timbaland and Wyclef Jean, to whom his father introduced him, before in his teens he began to cultivate Arabic hip-hop artists such as Shabjdeed and Marwan Moussa. He started releasing music around lockdown in 2020 and got his first big break at the end of 2022 with the single "Very Few Friends", which at the time of writing has been streamed more than 81 million times on Spotify alone.

Last year saw the debut EP From Gaza With Love, which he followed up on June 7 this year with the debut album DEIRA, which, among other things, offers a feature from the American R&B singer Kehlani.

In the wake of concerts at, among others, the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2023 and Coachella and the Governors Ball this year, Saint Levant will now finally visit Denmark when he visits Pumpehuset on 13 November 2024.
