If critics' praise is a wind at their back, shame will come to Denmark this autumn with a tropical hurricane blowing behind them. The English post-punk band's latest concerts in Denmark have been highly praised by Danish music critics.

When shame took to the stage at Store VEGA in 2023, GAFFA awarded the concert a maximum of 6 stars and wrote that the group proved "why their reputation as a live band is so respected. It was absolutely brilliant". The enthusiasm was almost as great in connection with the British band's latest Danish visit, which took place at NorthSide 2024. GAFFA awarded 5 big stars for an effort in which the top-notch five-leaf clover "delivered musical pressure kicks in the diaphragm".

shame formed in South London in 2014, drawing inspiration from legendary post-punk eccentrics such as Television Personalities and The Fall. They debuted in 2018 with the smash album “Songs of Praise”, which secured them a #1 spot on the UK vinyl chart and received 5 out of 5 stars in NME and 4 out of 5 stars in The Guardian.

The success continued in 2021 with “Drunk Tank Pink”, which reached the top 10 on the UK album chart and also scored top marks at NME. Here at home, Soundvenue gave the album 5 stars and wrote that the group’s “socially conscious post-punk sounds better than ever”.

I 2023 udkom shames seneste album ”Food For Worms”, indspillet i live i studiet i selskab med stjerneproduceren Flood (PJ Harvey, New Order, Nine Inch Nails). Her udvider kvintetten deres dystert rockende udtryk med skramlet klaver, psykedeliske toner og mere melodiske passager. Endnu engang hyldede medier som Clash og NME albummet, og sidstnævnte konkluderede bl.a., at sangene ”are begging to be heard live”.

There will be an opportunity for that when shame fills Pumpehuset on October 6th with their frenetic guitar attacks and raving punk poetry.
