De danske black metal-bannerfører, Afsky, vender tilbage til Pumpehuset 17. oktober og fejrer udgivelsen af deres nye plade "Fællesskab" selvsamme dag.
Afsky is the solo project of one of the great figures of Danish black metal, Ole Luk, which is based on traditional black metal mixed with elements from folk music and doom, adding a mixture of savagery and melancholy. With Afsky, Ole Luk processes his impressions of everything from life and death, despair and grief to tributes to his family, his loved ones and previous generations.
Not only inspired by conventional black metal, Ole Luk also draws on melodies and moods from old Danish folk, classical music and pop from the 60s and 70s. The result is a unique atmosphere. Afski tastefully blends elements from second wave folk and atmospheric black metal into a soulful whole. It is gripping and moving music, creating a haunted atmosphere through melancholic acoustic elements, evocative soundscapes and rich melodic passages. It is a moving journey through light and darkness, where black metal is treated as more than just a channel for negative energies.
Afsky's live performance is more reminiscent of an 80s heavy metal show than classic black metal. No corpse paint, but lots of strobe lights, smoke and colors in the entire spectrum of the rainbow. The live band consists of a four-man lineup that includes friends and colleagues from the Danish metal scene. The current drummers are Martin Haumann (Mother of All, Timechild) and Simon Frenning (Morild). On guitar it is Simon Skotte Krogh (Sunken) and Frederik Øgaard Jensen (Mother of All), while Martin Jørgensen (Metal Magic Festival) plays bass.
